- How did you start your music career?

I started playing keyboard at age 2 or 3.  
I never played properly and just played as I felt. I also enjoyed singing a lot.
When I was in junior high, I had a friend who used to live abroad. He had lots of music magazines and CDs that I had never seen or listened to. I was inspired by them and bought a guitar and started recording and using DTM to create my own music.

- What is the important thing for you when you make sounds?

When I am creating sounds, imaging, tenacity and  especially the monitor environment are important. As long as the monitor environment is precise and has good balance, all I have to do is find the perfect sounds as I imagine. On the other hand, if the monitor environment is not good and unbalanced, the sounds will be completely different when you hear them in different environment. Sometimes, I make sounds unbalanced or twisted, but still there should be a standard.  Also, the power of imagination is the source of everything. The tenacity and will power to make sounds as close to what I image is very important.

- Do you do everything in the creative process from writing songs, mixing, back chorus, and playing instruments? What is the hardest part for you?

It depends on the song. The hardest part for me is managing and controlling all elements. When I can't figure out the perfect sounds I have in my mind, I have to check the process and find out what is wrong. So, it takes a lot of time to solve the problems. However, since I do everything and solve the problems by myself, the result has always been unique. I find it very interesting and fun that I can add my flavor to the sounds.

- miu-clips sophisticated pop sounds are accepted by a variety of music fans. How do you want to deliver miu-clips sounds to your fans in the future?

I always think that I want to do my best to make great music for fans who are looking forward to it. I've always thought this way since I started to make music. The power of music may not be a huge part of people's lives, but I still believe that music can add a little bit happiness to their daily life and assist them to have wonderful lives.  

- What is the theme of the new album "L.O.V.E."? How long did it take for you to make this album?

I believe that the most important thing in our lives is Love. Love is like a fantasy. There will be love if you believe.  There will not if you don't. Love is also a bridge to connect people. I think that is very similar to music. If you are careful enough, you can find small loves in your daily life. That may be your friends, co-workers, or simple things you usually don't recognize. If someone loves you,  you feel good and you can be kind to people. In people, love breeds love and hate breeds hate. I want to show my love with my music. That is my I named this album "L.O.V.E.". It took me about a year to make this album.

Sacred Journey of Ku-Kai Volume 4 is the fourth in a series of a collection of works and peace-themed albums inspired by the classic Buddhist pilgrimage to the 88 sacred temples on Japan's remote Shikoku Island. Inspired by a journey taken by the beloved Buddhist monk Ku-Kai over a millennium ago, via the music contained in Sacred Journey of Ku-kai Volume 4, Kitaro continues to explore uncharted waters with his magnificently expansive vision and ever-questing spirit.

This album breaks new ground from the previous three CD's in this unique series of recordings. Steve Kindler's outstanding artistry on the violin adds a new dimension to the series. This expanded musical direction on Ku-Kai comes partially as a result of his unusual background and the location of the Temples spotlighted in volume 4. Violinist Kindler played in The Honolulu Symphony, but he cut his jazz chops as a member of John McLaughlin's fusion band making this particular musician a perfect fit for Kitaro's non-stop exploration of music's possibilities.

In a departure from volumes 1-3, the Temples featured in Ku-Kai 4 are located closer to the Pacific Ocean. In this release, Kitaro is channeling a uniquely different part of the island and the journey through his music. Kitaro, the consummate musical storyteller, is now relating a part of the legend of Ku-Kai that connects us to his story and 'peace' not easily told but ultimately understood.

Mantra
Recording for this album began in Bali in 1992 alongside the Canadian sax player, Paul Chenard. The second half of it was recorded in Malaysia and at a Khao Yai National Park in the north-eastern part of Thailand where tigers live. The album features the spiritual, dynamic sounds of nature as Keiju wandered around the jungle. Mantra features the German-French horn player Ben Trautman besides a Malaysian tabla player. This was an important album in Keiju’s career.
It was remastered in 2009.

Keiju produced his solo album based on the theme of appreciating “aqua” (water), one of the crucial elements needed on this wonderful planet, Earth. He produced six songs for this album in Kamiyama in Tokushima prefecture, Japan, surrounded by the sounds of nature in 2001. This is his first Japanese album for Keiju as he spent 18 years cultivating a career in Thailand; seven of the tracks on this album were written there. The one of the tracks from the album, “Miare”, describes the atmosphere of the ancient Japan based on the old traditional dance music of a shrine in Kamiyama. The album features the leading shamisen (Japanese traditional 3 stringed guitar) player Machiko Toyosawa. When you listen to this album, it’s like being in Jumon era.

Kitaro appeared in Kanagawa, Japan as a special guest for the Hitachi's (one of the biggest company in Japan) Freshmen Workshop.

This workshop studies local forest environments by pruning trees (bamboo).
Kitaro and Freshmen made flutes using bamboo and play together.

Universally acknowledged as the founding architect of New Age music, Kitaro’s various sound collaborations and resonant, multi-textured compositions truly defy the constraints of any genre. The Grammy- and Golden Globe-winning artist has garnered global acclaim over his lengthy career with a signature sound and an innovative fusion of cultures, techniques and spheres of consciousness that are truly his own.

Impressions of the West Lake is a modern day opera conceived and directed by internationally acclaimed ? lmmaker Zhang Yimou (Hero, Curse of the Golden Flower), the visionary artist behind the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. The production’s music was composed by Kitaro and the opera marks a reunion for him with music arranger Randy Miller, the pair’s ? rst effort together since the Golden Globe-winning soundtrack to Oliver Stone’s 1993 ?lm Heaven and Earth. In addition, the show’s soundtrack features rising Chinese pop star Jane Zhang, a gifted young performer who provides stunning vocals to the production on the title track. [About Sake Cup]
This is a limited edition Sake cup. Called a "Masu" in Japan, it is made of wood (Hinoki) and is square (Size: 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 x 2 inch). There are engravings of Kitaro's name on two sides written in Kanji.

For an authentic Japanese experience, drink your sake from the Masu cup. Originally designed to measure rice, Masu cups became popular throughout rural Japan. Made of unvarnished Hinoki wood, it is believed to have natural antibiotic properties and relaxation effectiveness with its natural aromaticity. Square cup holds 180ml (6 fl oz).

How to maintain
* The cup will be cleaned when it is shipped. Wood chips are no harm.

* When you clean, please wipe it with wet towel and dry well. Do not soak in water as it will damage it.
